The munchies. This inevitable factor of getting stoned is one that many have succumbed to over the years. It’s an all-too-common story. Sit in a circle blaze a fatty and head to the kitchen for a cold frosty beverage and something sweet or salty. While not only can the munchies become a very unhealthy habit, they can also become very expensive. The insatiable urge to eat and drink after consuming cannabis is something we have all dealt with, but something that with a little self-discipline we can easily overcome. Here are some of our favorite ways to put the munchies at bay.
Hydration is Key
When you start to feel thirsty you are already dehydrated. Hydration is key when consuming cannabis. Not only can it be the key to overcoming and putting the munchies at bay but it can also help to increase the effectiveness of your weed.
Distraction Can Be Your Best Friend
Let’s face it. Just because you smoked a joint and now feel hungry, chances are you aren’t actually hungry. For this reason, if you are able to find a healthy distraction other than food when the munchies take hold, it would be good to engage in that behavior. Distractions such as reading a book, cleaning the house, or going outside to engage in physical activity can all be great options for pushing through the munchies.
Exercise May Be What You Need
Exercise has also shown to be a great distraction and habit to engage in when you feel the munchies taking hold. Not only will it help you to not cave in and devour that entire package of Oreo cookies, a bag of potato chips and a case of soda, but it can also help you to burn calories from the last time you did!
If all else fails, eat that pizza and drink that soda because you know what? You only live once!
