When it comes to transporting cannabis in an illegal state, there are just some things you shouldn’t do. A man by the name of Malik Mollett from Pennsylvania offers a very prime example of a few. Malik recently hopped into an Uber car with a backpack full of cannabis but when exiting the car he forgot his backpack.
First things first, Malik should have never used an Uber to transport illegal drugs. If this wasn’t enough, after realizing his mishap he decided to contact his Uber driver to attempt to regain possession of his backpack.
Unfortunately, the driver of the Uber had already contacted the police who took possession of the backpack and immediately located the 2 lbs of cannabis that was in a vacuum-sealed bag.
Malik was probably ecstatic to get a phone call from his Uber driver offering to meet him to give back his bag. Although, he probably wasn’t ecstatic when he showed up to a McDonald’s parking lot in Irwin Pennsylvania and was taken into custody by undercover officers who had already sent pictures and texts to confirm it was indeed his bag.
While no one belongs in jail over a plant, that is unfortunately exactly where Malik is currently sitting and he will be held until January 30th. This is when he will have a preliminary hearing on his charges of drug possession and criminal use of a communication facility.
So, what have we learned from this?
- DON’T sell drugs illegally
- DON’T travel in an Uber with large volumes of illegal drugs
- DON’T forget your illegal drugs in the back seat of the UBER you should have never been in
While this should be common knowledge, it seems like that’s probably just now sinking in for Malik.
Unfortunately, this 21-year-old man will now face the repercussions of a draconian prohibition and his possession of a plant will most likely forever damper his life.
